the sleeper has awakened!

like the great grizzly bear of the north, so too has new jerk city arisen from a long winter nap. like the mythological phoenix, so too has new jerk city been born anew.

this spring, witness the awakening, the rebirth, the renaissance of beef jerky in new york. no longer must you wring your hands and gnash your teeth at yet another meatless season. no longer must you wander the aisles of your local market searching in vain for something that does not exist. no longer must you force down the stale offerings at your local watering hole. there's a new jerk(y) in town and its name is new jerk city.

reimagined and reinvented, i bring you *new*
new jerk city—the only jerky tailored with new york city in mind. with locally-sourced ingredients and flavors inspired by the very neighborhoods you live and work in, new jerk city invites you to taste new york city for the very first time.

first out of the gates: the brooklyn flavor. tangy, spicy, and subtly sweet, with an hint of brooklyn's own brooklyn brewery brown ale. a classic flavor, sure to win over your hearts and taste buds.

in the coming weeks and months, new flavors will be released, one for each borough. sign up to our mailing list for information on where you can find new jerk city in your neighborhood. in the meantime, find us at: newjerkcity.etsy.com

on the stong buzz

a nice mention by the strong buzz last week. we ran into them while doing the brooklyn indie market a couple of weeks back and had a nice chat about the jerky and local food's popularity in new york. it's becoming ever important to know where your food is coming from.

brooklyn indie market

my table at the brooklyn indie market last week was a huge success, not only did i sell out of every package of beef jerky, but i also made some incredible contacts. even the vegetarians couldn't resist snapping up a few packages (albeit for the meat eaters in their family, but still). we'll definitely be returning to the market in the future with even more flavors. we've also had a few requests for t-shirts, so keep your eyes peeled for those in the not-too-distant future.

jerky at better than jam handmade co-op

the initial tasting at the new bushwick indie boutique better than jam handmade co-op, went better than i could have imagined (given the fact that i was pushing a dried meat product in a clothing/jewelry store). those who were brave enough to sample the inaugural offerings were pleasantly surprised and provided incredible feedback for the next round of samples. they were also treated to as much jerky as they could carry home (though many limited themselves to only a cup full). following the tasting, i have already been approached by a local deli interested in carrying my product. there's a lot i need to accomplish before that happens, but it's definitely a step in the right direction. and i couldn't be more excited about the future of new jerk city. tonight they will be hosting another opening of sorts - their first friday event with sales from local designers, snacks and wine! from 7-10pm
